In July, the Retirement Law Group formally rebranded as Fiduciary Law Center (https://fiduciary.law/), added a new Chief Legal Officer, and several new attorneys.
Fiduciary Law was chosen to reflect the evolution of the firm that now provides legal services that go well beyond retirement-related matters. Practice areas include general bank, trust, brokerage and advisory compliance support, cyber and information security, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory registrations and agency enforcement, and, of course, ERISA and DOL compliance.
In July, Matthew Eickman became the firm’s first Chief Legal Officer and will serve as clients’ primary point of contact sourcing projects to the most efficient and experienced attorney(s) based upon timelines, budgets, etc. He has extensive expertise in ERISA and investment advisory laws and regulations and spent more than a decade leading the retirement plans division at a large national RIA.
Fiduciary Law also welcomed four new attorneys to the practice. Paula Flaherty joins from John Hancock’s legal department and previously served as counsel at the Department of Labor. Michael Haya, a former litigator and TPA, brings over 30 years of experience serving clients in ERISA, tax, DOL, and IRS matters. Brooke Cozort, also a former TPA, represents clients on broad range of qualified plan issues, providing legal and compliance support to employers of all sizes, tax-status, and industries. Lastly, Ryan Smith, former FINRA and Goldman Sachs in-house counsel, deepens the bench on securities compliance and regulatory defense.
